Bathroom projects

We have broken ground (literally) on our first bathroom(s) project.  We are expanding one bathroom into an adjacent closet and we are creating a new half bath that will be easily accessible from the main living area.  The new half bath backs up to the bath we are working on so the plumbing is tied together.  This house has a slab so moving or adding waste pipes require breaking through the slab.   Here is a before picture very early in the demo phase:

So we started by removing the cabinet that was built in next to the tub.  Then we removed all the tile from the tub.  This is messy work.

Then we knocked out the walls that were surrounding the tub.  Now you can see into the closet we are using to expand the room.  And you can see why I have been coughing for the last few weeks.  This is dusty work.

The plumbers came and did the jackhammering and moving of the pipes.  We are turning the tub sideways so they moved the drain slightly.  We also found out the fixtures weren't vented which would explain why they didn't drain well.

Once the concrete was dry, we built new walls to surround the tub.  Next will be removing the old vinyl flooring, fitting the tub in place and running the electrical.
Here is a sneak peak into the half bath.  I ordered this unusual vanity online.  It is made of iron with a porcelain sink.  You can see where the new toilet will be next to it.  More pictures to come soon!
